REAL TALK
Reconnected
Open Conversations for Open Relationships
Honest conversations. Shared experiences. Stronger connections.
What is Real Talk: Reconnected?
Some of the most meaningful conversations at KNetic don't happen on the dance floor. They happen when we sit down together and talk honestly about relationships, connection, and the realities of ethical non-monogamy.
Over the years, those conversations grew into something more. What began as casual chats and one-off discussion nights became a space where members could share experiences, ask questions, challenge assumptions, and learn from one another.
This season, Real Talk: Reconnected brought that conversation back to KNetic Calgary South with a fresh series of open, thoughtful discussions about the real work behind open relationships.
We've talked about the expectations we inherit, the relationships we intentionally create, and what happens when real people, real emotions, and real life meet the ideals of ethical non-monogamy.
Now, for our final conversation of the season, we're bringing many of those ideas together.
Everyone is welcome.
All genders, all sexualities, all relationship styles, all experience levels.
You do not need to have attended previous Real Talk sessions to join us for the finale.
There is no charge for this KNetic Community Event. Please RSVP to hold your spot.
The KNetic Bar will be open. No outside food or beverages allowed.
Your Hosts
Neal & Roo
This season marked a bit of a homecoming, with KNetic owner Neal returning to Real Talk after a year away and reconnecting with a conversation and community that means a great deal to him.
Alongside him, Roo has brought his own voice, perspective, lived experience, and curiosity to the circle.
Together, Neal and Roo have helped guide the conversation, but the heart of Real Talk has always been the experiences, questions, honesty, and perspectives shared by everyone in the room.
For our final night of the season, we'll bring all of those voices together one more time.

Attachment & Emotional Safety in ENM
Opening a relationship doesn't mean we stop needing to feel safe inside it.
We can question traditional relationship scripts, reject ownership, embrace autonomy, love more than one person, build unconventional families, and create relationships that look completely different from the ones we were taught to expect.
And we can still need reassurance.
We can still fear losing someone. We can still want consistency, comfort, affection, reliability, and the feeling that the people we care about will continue to show up.
Attachment needs don't disappear simply because a relationship is open.
In our final Real Talk of the season, we're exploring what emotional safety can look like in ethical non-monogamy and how we create relationships where autonomy and security are able to exist together.
What helps us feel secure when a partner forms a new connection? How do we create consistency without trying to control one another? How do we ask for reassurance without turning reassurance into a requirement that another person constantly prove their love?
What does it mean to be dependable in a relationship where time, attention, intimacy, and emotional energy may be shared among multiple people?
And when our attachment system gets activated, how do we recognize what is happening inside ourselves before fear begins writing the story for us?
We'll talk about the difference between security and certainty.
No relationship can promise us that nothing will ever change. People grow. Connections evolve. Needs shift. Relationships sometimes deepen, change form, or end.
Emotional safety isn't necessarily the promise that change will never happen.
It can be knowing that when change does happen, we'll communicate. That our feelings matter. That agreements won't quietly disappear. That difficult conversations won't automatically threaten the relationship. That honesty can be met with curiosity instead of punishment.
It can mean trusting that we don't have to hide our fear in order to prove we're "good at ENM."
Secure connection isn't the absence of difficult feelings. It's having somewhere safe for those feelings to land.
We'll explore how consistency, communication, follow-through, repair, reassurance, boundaries, autonomy, and care can work together to create relationships where people are free to grow without leaving one another emotionally untethered.
And as we do, we'll bring this season of Real Talk full circle.

A Season of Real Conversations
We began this season by challenging some of the stories we've inherited about love, sex, commitment, and what relationships are supposed to look like.
From there, we talked about communication and connection, and the honesty required to understand ourselves and one another.
We explored boundaries, rules, and agreements, and the difference between protecting ourselves and trying to control someone else.
We made room for jealousy and insecurity, not as evidence that we're failing at non-monogamy, but as feelings that can tell us something worth understanding.
We examined power and fairness, asking how agency, privilege, influence, and equity show up in the relationships we create.
We talked openly about sex, desire, and compatibility, including the reality that one person doesn't necessarily have to fulfil every part of another person's sexuality.
Then we took communication into practice, moving beyond knowing what healthy communication should look like and asking how we actually do it when conversations become difficult.
And we looked beyond romantic and sexual relationships altogether to talk about community, care, and chosen family, recognizing the networks of people who help make our lives feel connected and supported.
Now we arrive at attachment and emotional safety.
And in many ways, it connects everything we've talked about.
Because communication, boundaries, fairness, autonomy, sexuality, repair, community, and care aren't isolated relationship skills.
Together, they help create the conditions where people can feel safe enough to be honest, secure enough to be vulnerable, and free enough to remain fully themselves.

Thank You for Being Part of Real Talk
Real Talk has never been about Neal and Roo standing at the front of a room with all the answers.
It's about creating a space where we can ask better questions together.
Every person who attended, listened, shared a story, challenged an idea, offered another perspective, laughed with us, got vulnerable with us, or simply sat in the room and took it all in helped make these conversations what they were.
Thank you for trusting us with your experiences and for helping create a space where honest conversations about relationships can happen without judgment.
We hope something from this season follows you home.
Maybe it's a question you hadn't considered before. A conversation you finally feel ready to have. A boundary you understand differently. A little more compassion for jealousy. A better way to repair after conflict. A new friendship. Or simply the realization that there are other people figuring this stuff out too.
We may be closing this season of Real Talk, but the conversations don't end here.
We came together to talk.
We stayed to listen.
And somewhere along the way,
we Reconnected.
With love,
Neal & Roo
