Open Conversations for Open Relationships
Honest conversations. Shared experiences. Stronger connections.
What is Real Talk: Reconnected?
Some of the most meaningful conversations at KNetic don't happen on the dance floor. They happen when we sit down together and talk honestly about relationships, connection, and the realities of ethical non-monogamy.
Over the years, those conversations grew into something more. What began as casual chats and one-off discussion nights became a space where members could share experiences, ask questions, challenge assumptions, and learn from one another.
Now we're ready to reconnect again!
Real Talk: Reconnected brings our monthly conversation series back to KNetic Calgary South with a fresh season of open, thoughtful discussions about the real work behind open relationships.
We'll explore communication, trust, boundaries, agreements, jealousy, insecurity, emotional safety, relationship expectations, and the many ways we create healthy connections outside of traditional relationship scripts.
Each session has its own topic and guided conversation, giving us room to hear different perspectives and learn from the experiences around us. You don't need to be an expert, and you never have to share more than you're comfortable sharing. Listening is participating too.
Come to one session or join us throughout the season. Each conversation stands on its own, but together they create an opportunity to learn, reflect, grow, and reconnect with our community.
Whether you're part of the lifestyle community, a swinger, polyamorous, practicing another form of ethical non-monogamy, opening a relationship, or simply ENM-curious, there is a place for you in the conversation.
Everyone is welcome.
All genders, all sexualities, all relationship styles, all experience levels.
There is no charge for this KNetic Community Event. Please RSVP to hold your spot.
The KNetic Bar will be open. No outside food or beverages allowed.
Your Hosts
Neal & Roo
This season also marks a bit of a homecoming. After taking a year away from Real Talk, KNetic owner Neal is returning to the conversation and is ready to reconnect with the community, revisit some familiar topics, and explore where the conversation takes us next.
Joining Neal this season is Roo, one of our KNetic Hosts, bringing back his voice, perspective, and lived experience to the circle.
Together, Neal and Roo will guide each month's conversation while leaving plenty of room for the most important voices in Real Talk: yours.

Communication in Practice
From Knowing Better to Doing Better
We talk a lot about communication in ethical non-monogamy.
Be honest. Talk about your feelings. Communicate your needs. Listen to your partners. Don't make assumptions.
But what does good communication actually look like when you're right in the middle of a difficult moment?
This month, we're bringing Real Talk back to communication, but we're moving beyond the theory and putting those ideas into practice.
How do we start a hard conversation without immediately putting someone on the defensive? How do we express hurt without attacking? Ask for reassurance without making someone else responsible for our emotions? Say no or change our minds? Bring up something uncomfortable before frustration turns into resentment?
And perhaps just as importantly, what happens when communication doesn't go well?
Because even with the best intentions, we're going to get it wrong sometimes.
We misunderstand each other. We become defensive. We shut down. We react instead of respond. We say something badly. Someone walks away feeling unheard or hurt.
Healthy communication isn't about never making mistakes. It's also about knowing how to repair them.
We'll explore practical ways to slow difficult conversations down, listen to understand instead of simply preparing our next response, separate what actually happened from the story we've created around it, and communicate our feelings and needs without turning them into accusations or demands.
We'll also talk about repair.
How do we come back after something has gone wrong? What makes an apology meaningful? How do we take accountability without immediately defending our intentions? How do we rebuild connection when saying "I'm sorry" is only the beginning?
This session will be a little more practical than some of our Real Talk conversations. Through examples, possible scripts, shared experiences, and the collective wisdom in the room, we'll explore ways to turn the communication ideas we talk about into tools we can actually use.
There isn't a perfect script for relationships, and good communication doesn't mean always knowing exactly what to say.
Sometimes the most honest place to start is simply:
"I don't know how to say this perfectly, but I want to talk about it with you."
This month, we're taking communication off the page and putting it into practice.
